Gertrude Zeisler

From My Dad:

In November 1939 the above Gertrude Zeisler wrote to my Uncle Johnny Zeisler in St.Louis, MO, (attachments 1&2) requesting that he guarantee her immigration to America as she was presently in fear of her life due to the Nazi invasion of Austria and the "situation" with the Jews. This meant that my uncle would have to support & provide for Gertrude's welfare until she was able to provide for herself.

Although a very hard working man, my Uncle was not in a
position to take on this additional responsibility. Apparently no one else was able to help Gertrude Zeisler either and she was sent to a Concentration Camp in Poland and died in 1942, (attachment 3).

This is a very sad story but one that needs to be told as it touched our Zeisler family during the terrible times of the Holocaust in WWII.
